Brand New Newsletter Format

Yes, it has almost been a year since the last newsletter went out. It is amazing how much can change in the course of a year. As soon as I was laid off from my job in February of 2019 (the business got bought) I had grandios plans for freelancing and writing. I was hoping to have Air Storm completed and in print by the end of the year. Well, one of my favorite phrases is, 'Life is what happens when you're making other plans.'

The opportunities for contract work from my old employer dried up, so I quickly applied for unemployment and worked on my freelancing profiles on Fiverr and Upwork. I updated my profile on LinkedIn and made some recruiter contacts. One of those turned into a possible contract with T-Mobile as a technical writer. However, due to their merger with Sprint, my start date kept getting pushed back. After two months of waiting and the end of unemployment benefits several weeks away, I decided to apply for college worker retraining and training benefits.

So, I'm almost done with my second of three semesters to obtain my Web Application Developer certificate. Have you figured out where I'm going with this? Did you notice that this newsletter is now in a web page format instead as an email? Heh.

This also explains why Air Storm is not done yet. Turns out that when you become a college student with 15 credits per semester, it is like having a full-time job. The good news though is that I have still manged to get some writing done. Chapter 14 of Air Storm is currently in the works.

Other major accomplishments during the past year is the completion of Air Storm in German and Spanish, along with cover updates. This is for eBook and Print editions. And Portuguese is currently in the works. Woot!
